Here in the USA we just finished the national holiday of Thanksgiving. Someone said it was ironic that on Black Friday everyone rushes out to buy stuff because apparently the stuff for which they had just given thanks wasn't enough. I think unappreciative people have got to be the most miserable. How can you rejoice when you can't be thankful?
Acá en los EEUU acabamos de terminar la fiesta nacional de Acción de Gracias. Alguien decía que era irónico que el Viernes Negro todos se apuran para comprar cosas porque aparentamente aquellas cosas para que acababan de dar gracias no eran suficientes. Creo que la gente desagradecida tengan que ser las más desgraciadas. ¿Cómo puedes regocijarte cuando no puedes estar agradecido?
For the past few days the sink in ladies' room where I work was out of order. The toilet worked, but you couldn't wash your hands afterwards. Thankfully, there are dispensers of hand sanitizer here and there throughout the building. Well, today they repaired the sink. Hurray, running water again! I greeted another woman on her way out from the lav, "Yay! Everything works!" and she replied that we shouldn't have to be thankful for it. I told her on the contrary, "It's good to be thankful even for the little things."
Durante los últimos días el lavabo en el baño de mujeres en mi empleo estaba fuera de servicio. El inodoro funcionaba, pero no se podía lavarse las manos después. Gracias a Dios, hay dispensadores de desinfectante para las manos aquí y allá por todo el edificio. Pues bien, hoy se reparó el lavabo. ¡Hurra, agua corriente otra vez! Saludé a otra mujer en su salida de los SSHH, "Yupi! Todo funciona!" y ella respondió que no deberían tener que estar agradecidos por ello. Le dije que, por el contrario, "Es bueno estar agradecido incluso por las pequeñas cosas."
We as Americans are so SPOILED. We have so MUCH to be thankful for that we just take for granted, notably indoor plumbing. I know whereof I speak, having made 9 mission trips to Peru. As Christians, we should be among the most grateful people in the world. Doubly so if we're AMERICAN Christians.
Nosotros, como estadounidenses son tan MIMADOS. Tenemos TANTO para que agradecer, de que simplemente lo damos por descontado, especialmente la tuberia interior. Sé de lo que hablo, habiendo hecho 9 misiónes al Perú. Como cristianos, debemos estar entre las personas más agradecidas en el mundo. Doblemente así, si somos cristianos AMERICANOS.
I am sure we all want to do the will of God, or at least WANT to want to. The easiest way to start is by giving Him thanks.
Estoy segura que todos queremos hacer su voluntad de Dios, o al menos QUEREMOS querer hacerla. La manera más fácil para comenzarlo es por darle gracias.
